Prince Harry has spoken out about the term 'Megxit', describing it as a misogynistic term and an example of online hatred.
The term 'Megxit' is a play on the word 'Brexit', and refers to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle taking a step back from their senior roles in the royal family.
Sharing his thoughts at a conference for Wired magazine, Harry, 37, said: "Maybe people know this and maybe they don’t, but the term Megxit was or is a misogynistic term, and it was created by a troll, amplified by royal correspondents, and it grew and grew and grew into mainstream media. But it began with a troll."

At the start of 2020, Harry and Meghan announced they would be stepping down from their roles.
In an official statement, they said: "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
"We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."
The couple added: "It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages."

Earlier this year, the couple spoke about their struggles in a groundbreaking Oprah Winfrey interview. Harry told Oprah that he believes his late mother, Princess Diana, knew he would one day leave the royal family when she left him a £10 million inheritance.
"My family literally cut me off financially in the first quarter of 2020. I have got what my mum left me. I think my mum saw it coming. And I felt my mum's presence through this process," he said.
Speaking about Diana, he added: "For me I'm just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side.

"Because I can't imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago, because it's been unbelievably tough for the two of us but at least we had each other."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now living in California with son Archie, two and five-month-old daughter, Lilibet Diana.
