Woman breaks down learning she graduated after grandparents remortgaged home to pay for degree

Seren Lewis is filled with gratitude upon receiving her status as a qualified barrister

This is the heartwarming moment a young woman found out she'd qualified as a barrister after her grandparents remortgaged their home to pay for her degree.

Seren Lewis, 22, from Cardiff, has shared her beautiful story through a TikTok video that now has over 1.3 million likes.

Needless to say that the video will leave you with goosebumps all over, as Lewis captures the outcome of many late nights worth of blood, sweat and tears.

Aside from paying for her degree, Seren's grandparents have been hugely supportive of her her entire life.

She was taken in at two years old by her grandma and grandad in what she describes as ‘the most selfless act anyone could have done for me.’

Lewis is often seen on her TikTok sharing the hard truths of what studying law entails.

The Bar Practice Course (BPC) is a year-long postgraduate course allowing graduates to practise as barristers in the UK. Funding for this programme is undoubtedly costly, leaving many aspiring barristers unable to afford the course.

Lewis’ grandparents not only took on the parental role of their grandchild, but they selflessly made sure Lewis was able to achieve her dream of becoming a barrister.

The inspiring story has meant that the comment section in Lewis’ post is now overflowing with supportive responses, many of whom share the emotional reaction.

One user posted: “What a beautiful moment and major milestone! Congratulations beautiful girl.”

A second added: “This…. This is a family, going above and beyond, congratulations.”

Another perfectly summed up what this now means for the family moving forward. They shared: “What a beautiful core memory with your grandparents.”

Lewis said in her caption: “Bar school is extremely expensive and is still so inaccessible to the majority of people living in the UK.

“To be able to attend, they decided to remortgage their house that they paid off so many years ago and without that, I would not be where I am today.

"So, as much as this achievement is down to my hard work and MANY late nights, I share this achievement with them."

She added: "I can't wait to repay them one day."
