Sometimes there's nothing better than curling up on the sofa to watch a TV show that has you hooked from the get go.
And the latest story to get the documentary treatment might just be the most bizarre yet - if what viewers online say is anything to go by.

Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God is one of the strangest documentaries we've ever seen - and it seems the internet agrees with us.
It tells the story of Amy Carlson, a Texas woman who called herself 'the Mother God', the female divine, and ran an small cult-like group named 'Love Has Won'.

According to the official HBO webpage, the synopsis reads: "Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God chronicles the life and death of Amy Carlson, also known as Mother God, a self-proclaimed spiritual savior who built a cult through her online manifestos and live-streaming sessions.
"As Amy's health declined, her followers believed her death would lead to her evacuation by UFO and salvation for humanity.
"Told through the eyes of Amy’s devotees and constructed from the cult’s archival footage, the three-part docuseries captures the perils of internet proselytizing and a conspiracy-driven faith."

And viewers has been left baffled after watching the three-episode miniseries, with one person writing on X: "Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God is the most messed up cult I’ve stumbled upon in years.
"The documentary on HBO Max is jaw dropping. What. The. Hell. Just turned on golden girls to cleanse my mood."
Another called the series 'f**king insane', while someone else said: "like 30 seconds into this cult of mother god documentary and b***h what the f**k."

While a fourth commented: "watching the love has won: the cult of mother god documentary and it is WILD."
And a final simply said: "the cult of mother god documentary is something else."
And it's not just viewers who have had a lot to say about the show.
Writing for Rolling Stone, Chris Vognar said the series 'cuts closest to the beating heart of darkness', adding: "Love Has Won was a hall of such mirrors, a series of distorted reflections, all created in the image of their divine goddess."

He concluded: "It’s hard to see how anything but madness has won here."
The series is available to stream now on HBO (USA) and Now TV (UK).
