Lindsay Lohan ‘hurt’ and ‘disappointed’ by joke in new Mean Girls film

Lindsay Lohan ‘hurt’ and ‘disappointed’ by joke in new Mean Girls film

A rep for the star spoke out about her reaction to the joke

Lindsay Lohan is said to feel ‘hurt’ and ‘disappointed by a joke in the new Mean Girls film, which contains a throwback to a viral moment from the mid-00s.

Lohan, 37, starred as Cady Heron in the 2004 classic, which follows the teen as she settles into a new Illinois high school after years of being home-schooled in Africa.

As she gradually comes to understand the various cliques - and the politics between them – Cady eventually befriends the Plastics, a glamorous trio helmed by the formidable Regina George (Rachel McAdams), only to realise life at the top isn’t as easy as it seems.

The story has been reimagined as a new film, based on the Broadway musical of the same name, which made its highly anticipated debut last week.

“From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, Mean Girls,” a synopsis says.

“New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called ‘The Plastics,’ ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika).

The film is out now.

“However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs.

“As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.”

While Lohan makes a very brief cameo in the new movie, there’s also a subtle reference to the actor elsewhere in the flick – apparently something that’s not gone down too well.

During the movie, rapper Megan Thee Stallion appears and comments on Cady’s Christmas-themed talent show outfit.

“Y2K fire crotch is back,” she says, as a quip about a 2006 paparazzi video in which Brandon Davis – a friend of Paris Hilton – referred to Lohan as a ‘fire crotch’.

At the time, Lohan was pretty hurt by the comment, and it seems she still feels stung some 20 years later after it resurfaced in the new movie.

Her representative Leslie Sloane told The Messenger: “Lindsay was very hurt and disappointed by the reference in the film."

Lohan returns to the franchise in the new movie as the moderator of the Mathletes Championship, with reports from Variety claiming she was paid about $500,000 for the half-day of work.

Co-director Arturo Perez told the outlet that Lohan’s cameo remained an air-tight secret, explaining: “It was very NDA-heavy and only on a need-to-know basis. I think it had sprinkled to some of the cast.

“I actually do remember a couple people snuck in that day, now that I’m thinking of it.”

LADbible Group has reached out to Lohan's reps, as well as Paramount, for comment.
