Lindsay Lohan’s dad slams 'disgusting' joke in new Mean Girls film

Lindsay Lohan’s dad slams 'disgusting' joke in new Mean Girls film

He shared his thoughts on the brand-new musical adaptation of the iconic 2004 flick

There's been a whole lot of buzz surrounding the eagerly-anticipated release of the all-new Mean Girls film, which has already hit cinemas across the pond and is set to grace our screens in the UK on Friday (19 January).

The new movie - which adapts the 2018 Broadway version of the 2004 classic flick - sees the likes of Tina Fey, who played Ms Norbury, as well as Tim Meadows, who played Principal Duvall, return to the flick after nearly two decades.

The original cast saw Lindsay Lohan play Cady Heron, Rachel McAdams as Regina George and Amanda Seyfried as Karen Smith.

However, while many were beyond excited to see the new film - it's clear some took major issue with it, including the likes of Lohan's dad, Michael Lohan, who has slammed one particular 'disgusting' joke in it.

Now that the musical remake, which comes 20 years after the original, sees a bunch of new stars joining the Mean Girls family include Angourie Rice who takes on the role of Cady, Renée Rapp as Regina, Avantika Vandanapu as Karen, Bebe Wood playing Gretchen - so fetch - and Auli'i Cravalho as Janis Ian.

And it doesn't stop there.

Any fans of The Office will be happy to hear that Jenna Fischer will be playing Cady’s mom, while Busy Philipps gears up to take on the role Regina’s 'cool mom' originally played by Amy Poehler.

Fey wrote the book for the Broadway play with music created by her husband Jeff Richmond alongside lyrics by Nell Benjamin.

Some point during the musical, there is a reference made to 'fire crotch' which was the pretty controversial nickname Brandon Davies once gave to Lohan back in the early noughties in a 2006 paparazzi video which Michael was far from happy about.

During the movie, 'Body' rapper Megan Thee Stallion appears and comments on Cady’s Christmas-themed talent show outfit.

"Y2K fire crotch is back," she says.

Michael, 63, allegedly told TMZ he was 'p*ssed' over the 'disgusting comment' and went on to share exactly what he thought about Megan Thee Stallion.

Lindsay was also 'hurt and disappointed' by the 'fire crotch' reference.

He continued: "I will say this however, NOBODY can replace Lindsay or the original cast in that film. Nor can Megan replace Lindsay in the new Planet Fitness commercial."

And it wasn't just Michael who didn't find the reference amusing, as Lindsay herself was 'hurt and disappointed' by it too.

And almost 20 years on, it's said to have stung with her representative, Leslie Sloane, telling The Messenger: "Lindsay was very hurt and disappointed by the reference in the film," following the premiere.

Mean Girls is set to hit cinemas in the UK on Friday, 19 January.
