Fans are all saying the same thing about Lady Gaga after trailer drops for new film

Fans are all saying the same thing about Lady Gaga after trailer drops for new film

Lady Gaga is gearing up for her next cinematic role, and we don't have too long to wait until it hits cinemas

Lady Gaga fans are all agreeing on one thing after the trailer for her long-anticipated upcoming movie was released.

The multi-hyphenate is no stranger to cinema - having five film roles under her belt including Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born and 2021’s House of Gucci.

The latter saw Gaga portraying convicted criminal Patrizia Reggiani alongside Adam Driver as former head of Gucci house, Maurizio Gucci.

However, the 38-year-old’s next role is tipped to be her most challenging yet and fans believe it will help her win big next award season.

On Tuesday, Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer for Joker: Folie á Deaux.

The feature-length project sees Gaga portraying Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix as the titular DC Comics character.

You can watch the dark trailer featuring the two actors below:

The upcoming DC film is a direct sequel to 2019’s Joker and has been slated with an October 4 2024 release date.

Joker: Folie á Deaux sees the ‘Rain On Me’ hitmaker taking over the iconic role of Harley Quinn from Margot Robbie for the first time.

The Barbie star, 33, has previously portrayed the comic villain on three occasions; Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad.

However, the mantle has now been passed to the ‘Born This Way’ singer and fans are having their say on the casting.

Taking to social media after watching the trailer, one X user wrote: “Lady Gaga is finally getting her Oscar!!! I KNOW THATS RIGHT!! #JokerFolieADeux.”

A second commented: “I truly did not know how much I needed Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn until this clip. She’s literally the cutest human being in the world.

“I love you so much Gaga. You deserve to sweep every accolade that has ever existed for this role. You’re the greatest. Let’s get that Oscar!”

Another said: “No but the visuals are literally INSANE, the Oscar is in Lady Gaga’s bag already. #Joker.”

“She made history again, she delivered acting, you can see every feeling in every cut of every scene, literally she is immense in Harley Quinn's madness, LADY GAGA YOU ARE ON ANOTHER LEVEL,” typed a fifth.

The first teaser for Joker: Folie á Deaux was unveiled by Warner Bros’ studio presentation at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Speaking about the musical thriller, director Todd Phillips said: “We cast Gaga because she’s magic. I was a producer on A Star is Born and that was where I was like she has magic in her.”

He continued: “I’ve never talked about it as a musical, but it’s a movie where music is an essential element.

Joker 2 hits cinemas later this year. (

“The first ways I described Arthur were as weird and aloof and distant, but he has music in him, he has a grace to him. That informed him a lot in the first film. It didn’t seem like that big of a step what we did here.”

Joker 2 is part of the DC Elseworlds brand alongside Robert Pattinson’s The Batman and Constantine 2.

Therefore, it's not considered part of the rebooted DC universe which James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently building.

The first slated DC Universe offering is 2025’s Superman, starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Skins’ Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
