Fans have been absolutely fuming over the decision to release the sequel to one of Blake Lively's 'best roles' to Amazon Prime.
By now, I'm sure we know all about the 36-year-old Hollywood A-lister's impressive portfolio of acting gigs - from Gossip Girl and The Age of Adaline all the way through to The Shallows and Green Lantern.

But there's one particular flick in her filmography that soon became a fan-favourite since it first hit the silver screen back in 2018.
The film in question, which also stars Pitch Perfect's Anna Kendrick, is none other than A Simple Favor.
Directed by Paul Feig, the mind behind Bridesmaids, the thriller-comedy follows the likes of Stephanie (Kendrick), a single mother, along with Sean, Emily's husband, who set out to unravel the bizarre mystery behind Emily's (Lively) disappearance.

However, they counter a whole lot more secrets than what they bargained for.
A Simple Favor went on to bag a decent $97.6 million at the box-office and gained a dedicated cult-like following with many left itching for their next fix.
Well, it seems everyone's prayers have been answered - kind of.
Production on the sequel is due to kick off this spring, with the synopsis teasing that the follow-up will 'see the return of Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson as they head to the beautiful island of Capri for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman'.
It continues: "Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square."

Now, while it's very exciting that we're all finally getting the long-awaited sequel to A Simple Favor, we won't be getting the big cinema release we got the first time round.
Instead, it will premiere on streaming platform Amazon Prime and fans aren't all that happy about it.
One X user penned: "A Simple Favor grossed more than $97 million on a $20 million budget and remains the most fun Paul Feig movie to see with an audience since Bridesmaids.
"A Simple Favor 2 will naturally go straight to streaming on Prime Video because everything is stupid."

A second wrote: "So A Simple Favor 2 won’t be a theatrical release?! I thought it would be…"
"A Simple Favor was such an entertaining watch on the big screen it's such a shame how the sequel is going straight to streaming," added a third.
Others, however, were clearly just thrilled to know the sequel was actually happening after a six-year wait.

"A Simple Favor 2 is happening after all!! The first movie was a pleasant surprise so I’m here for the sequel! Hopefully it’s great," gushed one fan.
Another praised: "Rewatching A Simple Favor and it really is Blake Lively’s best role!"
A Simple Favor is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime.
