People Are Loving New HBO Series 'Euphoria'

People Are Loving New HBO Series 'Euphoria'

Euphoria has become the most-talked about series this summer with its harrowing themes and has UK fans likening it to 2007 series Skins.

Based on an Israeli series of the same name, the HBO teen drama centres on the troubled life of 17-year-old Rue Bennett (Zendaya), a drug addict fresh from rehab with no plans to stay clean.

The troubled teen is joined in her daily battle by a transgender girl called Jules, rage-filled jock Nate, football star Chris, Cassie, whose sexual history continues to follow her; and body-conscious Kat as they struggle with their individual issues in a high-school in Southern California.

The show, which is created by Sam Levinson and produced by rapper Drake, explores dark themes, such as bereavement, slut shaming, addiction and mental illness.

The series has proved controversial since its release in the US with its explicit scenes (including one with 30 penises in it) and fearless quest to approach Gen Z's issues head on.

Although the eight-part series has finished in the US, it kicked off on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on Tuesday, 6th August and people are raving about it already.

One penned: "Euphoria is a masterpiece, what the !"

"The men on euphoria are literally just there to play love interests and villains and I think that's beautiful," another added. "Euphoria has to be one of the most layered, poignant and touching series ever created.

"I felt everything. Zendaya's performances are absolutely sensational. Beautiful filmmaking all round, writing, cinematography, the score/soundtrack."

While one fan likened the show to E4's Skins, which ran for seven seasons and followed similar themes of a group of teenagers in Bristol. They shared: "Euphoria = UK Skins. I love it!"
