Matthew Perry has given eager Friends fans the update they've all been waiting for, confirming that the long-awaited reunion will begin filming in March.

The sitcom star tweeted on Thursday: "Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March.

"Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that's the way I like it!"

Filming for the one-off reunion show was due to kick off in August this year, but was halted due to coronavirus.

Naturally, the internet lost its mind, and the tweet now has over 100,000 likes.

The special show will bring together original cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, alongside Matthew himself.

Filming for the Friends reunion is reported to be taking place on the show's original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank, California - so the cast will be back in their old stomping ground.

The show will then air on the HBO Max streaming service, but with filming on pause, an exact date is yet to be confirmed.

The smash hit series, following six best friends living in NYC, ran from 1994 until 2004 and amassed a loyal fandom - so much so that the final episode was watching by a staggering 52.5 million viewers.

Rumours of the reunion first started last October last year when Jen told Ellen DeGeneres that the cast were "working on something".

Then the selfies started on Instagram. The same month, Courteney posted a snap with Jen and Matt - and naturally, fans lost it.

But things *really* started to go wild when Jen posted a picture with the whole cast - who appeared to be at a dinner together.

Eventually, in February, the cast came clean, sharing an old Friends throwback shot and teasing: "It's happening...."

Fingers crossed for March, then!
