Boy Praised For Helping Girl Who Started Her Period On A Bus

A boy has been praised for helping out a girl who started her period on a bus.

Posting on Facebook, the girl's mum thanked the boy and his parents, saying his mum was "raising him right".

In the post, the woman described how the girl started her period on the bus without realising while on the bus home from school.

"My daughter started her period on the bus ride home today," she wrote.

"A boy a year older than her... that she doesn't really know... pulled her aside and whispered in her ear that she had a stain on the back of her pants and gave her his sweater to tie around her waist so she could walk home off of the bus.

"She said she was kind of embarrassed and originally said it's okay... but the boy insisted and told her 'I have sisters, it's all good!'"

The woman went on to thank the boy for helping her daughter.

She added: "If you are this boy's Mom... I want to say thank you and that you are raising him right!"

"We hear so many bad things about today's youth, and I wanted to share something positive!"

Other also praised the boy online, commenting on his compassion.

Another person said: "We need more people like this in the world!"

"This is how we should raise our sons and daughters," added somebody else.

A study published in September found more than 90 per cent of girls are scared to go to school on their period.

The research, carried out by YouGov and Bodyform, pointed towards period-shaming and teasing being one of the main reasons why girls don't want to go into school while menstruating.

Around 350,000 girls are missing school when they are on their period, which is the equivalent of 2.1 million hours of education.

Over a quarter claimed that being embarrassed, fearful of leaking, not being able to go to the toilet and being teased by fellow pupils were some of the biggest reasons behind non-attendance in class.
