Platinum blonde has been around for years, but never have we seen hair lightening be taken to such extremes as with the latest hair colour trend to circulate: Nordic White.
Inspired by the naturally icy hues of Nordic people and the snow-covered lands they live in, Nordic White sees blonde taken to the coolest tone possible.
The result is comparable to unicorns, snow queens and grandmas (and we mean this in the best way possible).
One pioneer of the trend is Massachusetts-based colourist Daniel Tetreault, whose bright white creations have been circulating on Instagram.

Daniel explained to Pretty52 that the hair trend is more suited to people with naturally blonde or light brown hair.
"I only take clients who are a level 7 (lightest brunettes) and above for my #NordicWhite hair," he explained. "Girls who are level 5 and below will have a longer more intensive lighting journey, risking the hairs integrity.
"Lighter haired clients once lightened to a level 11 won't go back to a yellow tone or undesired warm tones. Dark haired girls will always go back to a warmer unpleasant tone."

For this same reason, most salons aren't likely to take clients asking for Nordic White hair if they aren't naturally light - so don't be disappointed if you get turned away.
Daniel also added that clients with naturally lighter hair won't find themselves having to head back to the salon every six weeks. "The level of maintenance is significantly less for lighter haired clients and usually goes with their own skin tone and features much better," he says.
And of course the colour is very topical at the moment - hello Queen Daenerys Targaryen!
