Women Are Horrified By News That Low-Rise Jeans Are 'Making A Comeback'

Women Are Horrified By News That Low-Rise Jeans Are 'Making A Comeback'

No thank, you. My pot-belly does not approve.

It's been a pretty rough year for us ladies, all in all, what with lockdown dragging out for months on end, unpaid labour stacking up like never before and maternity rights being stripped from under our feet.

So, for the love of god, the last thing we need right now is for low rise jeans to come back in fashion...

Yep, you might have seen Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Kim K sporting low rise jeans back in the early 2000s, but rumour has it we could all be wearing them soon, as the trend is once again reported to be hitting the high-street.

And, err, it's safe to say that many women aren't best pleased about it...

After Vox shared an article declaring that low-rise jeans were "back", citing the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner had been wearing them, the response on social media can only be described as one of dismay and hysteria.

Taking to Facebook as the mag shared the article, one person wrote: "I AM NEVER WEARING THAT AGAIN! EVER! I'd rather be unfashionable for the rest of my life."

Meanwhile, another concurred: "There's a time and a place for everything. It ain't time for that."

And as the story got picked up elsewhere, the terror only grew and grew.

Under an NBC article about the low-rise resurgence, one panicked shopper wrote: "This is bigger than COVID. low rise jeans CANNOT be allowed to resurface."

While another wrote: "My pot belly would like to disagree."

For anyone panicking, the good news is that some fashionistas have been warning about the low-rise jean comeback since as far back as 2017, NBC note, with Repeller and The Cut both previously gushing about the trend's return.

PopSugar also cite the fact that the jeans have been donned at Alexander McQueen shows for the last three years.

However, we've yet to see it translate to high street stores, and there's been barely anybody donning them who isn't a Victoria's Secret model.

Maybe low-rise jeans will come back into mainstream fashion, and when they do, maybe we'll lock ourselves away for ever more.

But until that day comes we're going to enjoy flaunting our mom jeans in silent oblivion.
