Making A Murderer fans - there's been an important update on Steven Avery's case.
On Monday, Kathleen Zellner, Avery's lawyer said that she and her team have discovered who planted evidence to frame Avery for Teresa Halbach's murder, and that person is going to be revealed.
Zellner shared this information in a tweet, which said: "Tomorrow you will find out who really planted Teresa Halbach's RAV4 on the Avery Salvage Yard."

Those who have watched part two of the Making A Murderer documentary series on Netflix will know that Zellner was experimenting with evidence in the case to prove her client's innocence.
Steven Avery was convicted for the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005 and is currently serving a life sentence without parol. He has always maintained his innocence and, with the backing of Zellner, is fighting for a re-trial. Avery's nephew, Brendan Dassey, was also convicted for this murder.
Avery believes that the police framed him for the murder of Halbach after he sued them for wrongful conviction in 2003. In 2019, Avery's appeal for a new trial was rejected.

Following this outcome, Zellner's hands were tied. Instead of getting a new trial for Avery, the most she and her team could do was have a judge look at the existing case and assess whether the law was applied fairly and correctly. This means no new evidence brought to light could be shown in front of a court and a jury, making it much harder to prove her client's innocence.
During season two, Zellner gets permission to experiment with some of the evidence from the case. She consulted a weapons expert from Wisconsin State Crime Lab, who testified and said he couldn't conclusively link the gun found at Avery's property to Halbach's murder.
And now, it looks like Zellner has more scope for suggesting Avery was framed, as her tweet suggests she now knows who planted Teresa Halbach's car (a Toyota RAV4) at Avery's property.

In addition, Zellner has another suspect in mind for Halbach's murder: Bobby Dassey, Brendan's older brother, whose laptop was full of images of pornography and violence towards women.
In 2018, the documentary's producers, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, did hint that there could be a third season of Making A Murderer. After Zellner's revelation this week, they can't possibly leave us in the lurch?
