Glastonbury 2024 line-up has been released and fans can't believe stark contrast from last year’s controversy

Glastonbury 2024 line-up has been released and fans can't believe stark contrast from last year’s controversy

The festival organisers have clearly taken notes

It’s well known that Glastonbury is one of the best festivals in the world.

Aside from the pain of actually trying to get a ticket, festival-goers have only had one other complaint throughout the years.

While Glastonbury has brought us life-changing headliners through the years including Elton John, David Bowie, and of course, Beyoncé - the same sentiment was echoed by people year on year.

The main issue that has been raised by punters has addressed the lack of gender diversity on the prestigious line-up.

Last year, all of the Glastonbury headliners were male.

Last year, all of the headliners were male - sparking claims of sexism.

On top of that, 53 percent of the performers named in the first wave of acts were also men, including major names in music like Aitch, Fred Again.., Lewis Capaldi, Lil Nas X, and Thundercat.

Responding to this, Emily, co-organiser of the famed British festival, claimed they were 'entirely focused' on balancing their bill.

"It’s not just about gender, it’s about every aspect of diversity," she explained.

Tickets always sell out even before the line-up is announced, so it was thought that perhaps the festival would carry on as it'd been going.

Yet, it seems the organisers have taken notes, as this year’s line-up features so many WOMEN!

Headliners include Dua Lipa, SZA and Shania Twain.

One commenter wrote on X: “They really said WOMEN this year! I would honestly love this lineup if I could go.”

Another added: “I shouldn't be this chuffed about 2/3 headliners being women for the first time. This festival has been around for more than half a century.”
