Jess and Sammy crowned winners of Love Island 2023

The results are in and Love Island's 2023 champions have been crowned.

ITV really shook things up for season 10 of the popular reality dating show, hosted by Maya Jama.

Not only did Molly Marsh head back into the villa after being brutally booted out when former islander Kady McDermott made a surprise return choosing to couple up with Zach Noble, but there have been several brutal dumpings and the network even ditched the baby challenge.

By the eighth week, the islanders had been whittled down to Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde, Jess Harding and Sammy Root, Molly Marsh and Zach Noble, and Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki.

Tonight (Monday, 31 July) the public's vote was revealed and Jess and Sammy were crowned the winners of Love Island 2023.

Ella and Tyrique were strong contenders for the top spot from the start, coupling up on day one and despite their ups and downs, ending up not only as girlfriend and boyfriend, but also declaring their love for one another.

Jess and Sammy had a rocky ride too, with Jess choosing to stay single after Casa Amor but Sammy bringing back Amber. Despite getting to know other people and several shouting matches across the villa, Sammy finally popped the question and asked Jess to be his girlfriend with the help of his fellow islanders.

Molly and Zach's relationship almost ended before it even properly started after Molly was chucked out the villa when Kady chose to couple up with Zach. Thankfully Molly returned in a big old plot twist during Casa Amor and she and Zach patched things up, closed things off very privately - not helped by Kady's toast - and got both sets of parents' approval.

Whitney and Lochan have also been widely praised on social media for their slow and steady approach to their relationship, taking it at their own pace and keeping it pretty private - the pair a continuous firm favourite among Twitter users.

Fans of the show flooded to social media in the build-up to the finale, weighing in on who they thought should take home the £50,000.

One user said: "Whitney and Lochan my 2023 winners."

"Ty and Ella for the win," another wrote.

A third commented: "Vote for Lochan & Whitney as the winners of #loveIsland. Let's vote against TOXIC relationships.

"Whitney and Lochan are the most authentic non forced couple on this series.. everything seems natural and they are not speeding up their relationship for the sake of the show."

And a fourth resolved: " Ella & Ty or Whitney & Lochan for 2023 it’s giving winners regardless."

With all couples paired up in love matches as opposed to friendship matches, they all had a shot at the title of the Love Island winners of 2023.

But of course, only one couple could take the crown in the end.
