Love Island winners Jess and Sammy 'split after just two months'

Love Island winners Jess and Sammy 'split after just two months'

Sources claim the couple believe they are 'better off as friends'.

Love Island stars Jess Harding and Sammy Root have reportedly split just two months after winning the reality TV show.

The pair recently appeared on the 10th season and pipped fan favourites, Whitey Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki, and Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde to the crown.

Since leaving the ITV show, the couple have worked with fashion brands like boohooMAN and In The Style, as well as recently attending the National Television Awards together.

However, according to MailOnline, the reigning Love Island champions have reportedly decided to part ways.

Sources allegedly close to the pair have told the publication that the break-up was a mutual decision as they believed they were just ‘better off as friends’.

“Jess and Sammy have called it quits,” the anonymous source claimed.

“Things have changed since leaving the villa and Jess has realised they're better off as friends.”

The Islanders met on day four of the ITV2 show when the project manager finally entered the villa.

Harding, 23, who had originally begun her journey in the Mallorca pad on day one, was chosen alongside Thomas and Molly Marsh to date the 22-year-old in the hideaway.

After seeing sparks fly, the Londoner decided to couple up with Root, 22, on day five.

However, their relationship was soon tested when new bombshells Charlotte Sumner and Leah Taylor entered the house and both picked the Kent-dweller for a date.

However, it appeared that neither could sway Root, and on day nine, he decided to re-couple with the aesthetics practitioner.

In an episode during the Casa Amor loyalty test, the 22-year-old kissed two girls and had his head turned by Amber Wise, who he eventually coupled up with until Harding returned to the villa.

However, he quickly realised his feelings for Harding, and the pair went on to win the show.

Upon leaving the villa, Root took to Instagram and wrote: “What an adventure it has been!

“I never thought I would grow as a person so much in such a short amount of time, or end up leaving the villa with a girlfriend and dropping L bombs in a love letter but when you find the one unusual things happen.”

Harding also took to social media to post a similar sentiment, writing: “What an overwhelming last few days. Can’t even believe the support I’ve had from everyone, it’s been crazy. Love to you all xxxxx.”

And Root himself commented on her post: “Proud of you beautiful."

Tyla has contacted both Jess Harding and Sammy Root's representatives for further comment.
