Loose Women star opens up on health diagnosis that left her 'unable to open her eyes'

The ITV presenter shared a snap of her condition on Instagram

While the majority of big-name stars prefer to keep the state of their health close to their chest, one Loose Women star has opened up about a devastating condition she's secretly been suffering from for months.

Charlene White - one of the hit lunch-time show's lead panellists - took to Instagram yesterday (20 February) where she spoke honestly about the realities of the dreaded health woe.

Sharing a selfie, the 43-year-old ITV journalist was seen to be suffering rather swollen eyes, which were also surrounded by some darker, painful-looking splotches.

It's clear that the photo was taken ahead of an on-screen appearance, being that you can see a dressing room behind her.

She also included a follow-up snap in the post, which saw mother-of-two Charlene donning a full-face of make-up, which her team had clearly applied as a means of disguising her condition.

Despite the cover-up, writing in the caption, the star opened up about how difficult it has been to deal with the condition.

"Before the 'ewww what’s wrong with her eyes!!' messages start flooding my inbox after @loosewomen , I’ve had an allergic reaction to something (and have had for months now) but it’s pretty bad this morning," she penned.

"Could barely open my eyes at 3am."

The former I'm A Celeb star went on to thank her MUA for her 'stellar camouflage job', adding: "And yes I know putting make-up on won’t help the situation, but it was too late to not come into work. Such is life.

"Anyway, swipe to see what Fran’s magic hands achieved. Very grateful. (and yes, I’m booked in with a specialist this week… finally!)."

Within a matter of minutes, concerned messages from fans and fellow celebs began flooding in, offering their condolences to Charlene.

Her Loose Women co-star Kelle Bryan penned: "Ohhhh babe that looks uncomfortable sorry to hear that. Praying for a speedy recovery."

RuPaul's Drag Race favourite Ella Vaday also shared her own harrowing experience with allergies, writing: "Just messaged you as I struggled to find out my allergy as my face literally did the same thing as you, it’s so uncomfortable and frustrating!

The on-screen star praised her MUA for helping to cover up the reaction.

"Mine is an allergy to acrylates/methacrylate, which is becoming a more common allergy... it’s in sooo many things, but I have it sorted now!

"As a drag queen it took me soo long to work out and I know how uncomfortable and frustrating it is."

The Repair Shop's Jay Blades commented: "Stay strong my Sister, from another Mr."

"Keeping my fingers crossed that the specialists get to the bottom of your allergy. Sending love x," added presenter and sportswoman Denise Lewis.
