Line Of Duty's Martin Compston's Behind Major Show Leak After Awkward Timing Blunder

Line Of Duty comes to a close on Sunday, and we honestly are on tenterhooks as we wait to find out whether AC-12 will really unmask the mysterious 'Fourth Man', H.

While there's lots of theories doing the rounds online (you can read some of them here), only a very few people know exactly what will happen - one of them being Martin Compston, who plays Steve Arnott in the BBC corrupt copper drama.

And yes, while we can imagine the show's finale being a heavily guarded secret, Martin has revealed he once let slip a jaw-dropping spoiler a whole hour before the episode aired.

Speaking to both Jamie and Harry Redknapp in an upcoming episode of Redknapp's Big Night Out, the 36-year-old explained he once let slip on Twitter that fearsome cop Lindsay Denton (magnificently played by Keeley Hawes) was returning in season three - a spoiler that the Line of Duty team had fought to keep hidden.

"I was living in LA at the time and I think it was when Keeley Hawes came back so I put out: 'she's back everybody', but I forgot the clocks went forward in the UK so I put it out at 8 and the show came on at 9," he said.

However, Martin got away with the major error by the skin of his teeth as it wasn't clear what on earth he was talking about.

"Luckily everyone was going 'what the f**k are you on about?'" he laughed. "From that moment I've got the fear big time."

Yep, Martin is definitely extremely guarded in interviews when talking about Line of Duty - not even confirming whether the series, which has attracted audiences of 11 million people, will definitely be returning for another outing.

Speaking on the unofficial podcast, Shrine of Duty, he said: "There are a lot of payoffs coming this Sunday.

"There are a lot of big answers coming, and I think it's deserved. You know, people have stuck with us for such a long time. I think there comes a point where the natural story arc that's been running all these years is coming to an end.

"There are different elements this year. Usually, we're just looking at - do people want us back, because you don't want to overdo it. But there's also - when you get 10 years in, you start to think of legacy, and if it goes down that well in some ways it might be the perfect ending."

We'll just have to wait and see what happens on Sunday night...
