It's official. Mark your calendars, because May 21st 2021 is officially the day Matrix 4 is landing on screens.
There isn't yet known about the plot for the next movie in the franchise, but what we do know is that Carrie-Anne Moss is returning alongside Keanu Reeves, as they step back into their roles as Trinity and Neo.

Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Us and Watchmen) are also set to appear, while co-creator Lana Wachowski will be back in the directing seat.
Discussing the upcoming movie, Laura said: "Many of the ideas Lilly [Wachowski] and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I'm very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends."
We can't wait.

And if you're as excited as us about the Matrix return, get ready, because he's got another movie out on the exact same day, too.
That's right. King Keanu has not one film but two out on May 21st 2021: Matrix 4 and John Wick: Chapter 4. We're tempted to watch them back-to-back, tbh.
Back in August, Lionsgate was first to announce that John Wick: Chapter 4 would be hitting screens on May 21 2021, while Warner Bros later announced Matrix 4 is currently scheduled for the same premier date.
And naturally, fans have gone wild about the unlikely scheduling coincidence, taking to social media to express their excitement about a potential double dose of Keanu.

"May 21, 2021 is officially Keanu Reeves day," one fan wrote.
While another added: "I'm actually super excited and who says you have to choose between the two of the films? Go see both when time comes!"
A third agreed: "May 21, 2021 is offical Keanu Reeves day, mark your calendars it's an international holiday".

As a fourth joked: "5.21.21 #KeanuReeves takes all my money at the movies day."
While the dates are exciting for many, they are also highly likely to change.
The new Matrix film will see the return of Keanu as Neo alongside his co-star, Carrie Ann-Moss, and is set to start filming early next year.

But if John Wick 4 is coming out at the same time, it will also need to be in production around then, too.
It's also unlikely that Box Offices will want a Keanu vs Keanu battle on their hands, as this would likely just split the audience down the middle.
In the meantime, why not give yourself a dose of Keanu by watching his new rom-com, Destination Wedding.
The movie - first released in 2018 - stars his Dracula co-star, Stranger Things favourite Winona Ryder, too, and is now finally on Netflix for your viewing pleasure.
We just wish Keanu Day was sooner!
