Paris Hilton called out by PETA after getting new puppy from breeder

Paris Hilton called out by PETA after getting new puppy from breeder

PETA has hit out at Hilton after the socialite revealed she's got a new puppy.

PETA has hit out at Paris Hilton after the socialite revealed she's got a new puppy.

Hilton took to her Instagram to share the news she's recently got a new dog following the passing of her 23-year-old chihuahua Harajuku B***h.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has since called out the 48-year-old questioning why she didn't choose to adopt and rescue an animal instead.

Hilton announced the death of Harajuku with a post to Instagram a couple of months ago.

The post reads: "Today, my heart breaks as I say goodbye to my precious chihuahua, Harajuku B***h.

"For an incredible 23 years, she filled my life with so much love, loyalty, and unforgettable moments. She lived a long, beautiful and iconic life, surrounded by love until her final peaceful slumber.

"Words cannot express the immense pain I’m feeling right now. She was more than just a pet; she was family to me, a loyal friend who was always by my side through every twist and turn life brought my way."

The 48-year-old has since got another dog to fill the void in her furry family, sharing the news online yesterday (Thursday, 6 July).

The post reads: "Absolutely in love with my new puppy! He is so adorable and sweet! So special that he’s actually related to my angel Harajuku Bitch who passed earlier this year. It’s like having a little piece of her still here with me. What should I name my new baby? @HiltonPets."

A collaborative post between Hilton Pets and Foufou's Teacup Puppies Inc confirms FouFou's sent Hilton a puppy - although it's unclear whether Hilton paid for it or if it was gifted as part of a collaboration.

According to it's website, Foufou's Teacup Puppies' mission is 'to safely deliver superior quality puppies that come from good environment and responsible breeding'. "We are a reputable company that stand strong behind our name and behind the quality of our puppies. [...] We are a duly registered Canada Inc," it adds.

However, PETA isn't happy.

Responding to Hilton's new arrival with outrage, PETA questioned whether Hilton has been 'living under a rock for the past decade'. Ouch.

In a statement to TMZ, a spokesperson for the non-profit organisation continued: "A day in an animal shelter would have shown her just how many Chihuahuas already need homes, and five minutes on Petfinder would turn up thousands more, including puppies.

"PETA knows that retail therapy is what Paris loves best, but we ask her to keep the shopping to baubles and bags and give an animal a chance to be 'sliving' by adopting."

Tyla has reached out to Paris Hilton for comment.
