Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3 have been officially confirmed by Disney

Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3 have been officially confirmed by Disney

They will also be doing a Zootopia sequel.

Disney has well and truly left the world shocked and surprised after its big announcement.

During an earnings call, CEO Bob Iger boasted they will be resurrecting arguably two of the biggest animated titles in its history for sequels.

That's right, we're getting a fifth Toy Story and a third Frozen.

But that's not all.

Iger said: "Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia," he said, according to Collider and Deadline.

“We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”

Toy Story 4 was a bittersweet ending to the long-running franchise as it saw the beloved gang split in two.

We saw Woody, Bo Peep, her sheep, McDimples, Duke Caboom, Bunny and Ducky decide to become 'Lost Toys' and travel around with the carnival to help prize toys find their forever homes.

While Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of Andy/Bonnie's toys choose to go back home.

It really was wrapped up perfectly.

So, it's not really yet know where they will go for the fifth instalment.

Tim Allen and Tom Hanks haven't made an announcement yet, so we don't even know if they'll be coming back or if we'll get new lead characters.

But over in Arendelle, things were left a little more open.

The ending of Frozen 2 saw Elsa freeze a flood and save the kingdom before it gets destroyed by the barrage of water.

Anna accepts Kristoff's marriage proposal and becomes Queen of Arendelle, while Elsa chooses to be the protector of the Enchanted Forest.

There was even a post-credits scene, so there's definitely more to be told in that story.

It's no real surprise that Disney is bringing back these two mega titles.

Not only are they extraordinarily successful, but they also do pretty well against the sea of other movies.

At the box office, Toy Story 4 brought in $1.07 billion, Frozen 2 earned $1.45 billion and Zootopia collected $1.02 billion.

In terms of Academy Awards, Toy Story 4 scored two nominations, the first Frozen film won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for 'Let It Go', while the sequel picked up another Best Original Song nomination for 'Into The Unknown'.

Similarly, Zootopia also won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2017.
