Maisie Williams Reveals If She Would Return As Arya In A Game Of Thrones Spin-Off

The former Game of Thrones actress has revealed whether she'd return to the Game of Thrones universe in the future.

Game of Thrones fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the first of several spin-offs which are in various stages of development, including the prequel series House of the Dragon.

There's one actor viewers would love to see return to the Game of Thrones universe of dragons and carnage - Maisie Williams. She is now starring in the Danny Boyle-directed music drama series Pistol.

The Hulu series follows the formation of the Sex Pistols and Maisie portrays punk rock style icon Pamela 'Jordan' Rooke.

When asked about the possibility of a Game of Thrones return, Maisie told Tyla: "Potentially. Not that anyone’s ever asked me.”

Viewers will be pleased to hear it's not completely off the table.

House of the Dragon is actually set 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones and will follow the beginning of the end of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Dance of the Dragons, otherwise known as the Targaryen civil war.

The series was ordered by HBO in October 2019 with filming beginning in the UK in April 2021.

The huge ensemble cast will include Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Lady Alicent Hightower and more.

Maisie starred as Arya between 2011 and 2019. The character, who is among the most popular and even partly inspired Taylor Swift’s hit song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ was last seen leaving Westeros to see what lies west of the continent.

Other spin-offs that have been announced as being in development include Tales of Dunk and Egg, 9 Voyages, 10,000 Ships, several untitled animated series and an untitled West End play.

Maisie said Jordan and Arya feel 'worlds apart' but she wouldn't be surprised if fans of both GoT and Pistol find some similarities between them.

She said: "They feel worlds apart and even how I played them feels very different. I had an entirely new approach, but I’m sure some people will find some kind of similarities between them."

The cast got to film at the 100 Club where the Sex Pistols once played.

"For me it felt very spiritual," Maisie said, adding that filming took place 'almost exactly 50 years to the date that the Pistols played there.'

She reflected: "It felt like the history that had take place is those walls was resurfacing and revisiting us and so that was particularly special moment and I think that scene is particularly charged with something bigger than ourselves which is what punk is all about."

Pistol is available to stream on Disney+ now.
