Jill Scott takes savage jibe at Matt Hancock as he’s crowned camp leader

Matt Hancock has come in for a fair bit of flack since he entered the I'm a Celeb jungle.

And Jill Scott did not miss her chance to have a cheeky dig at him when he was crowned camp leader this week.

The disgraced former health secretary took on the responsibility after defeating Mike Tindall in the leadership battle.

Following his win, his deputy, Charlene White, joked: "Does this win feel sweet, especially after you lost to Boris? Do you feel like you have been vindicated?"

To which he replied: "This more than makes up for it."

Following Hancock's victory, the ex-England player didn't waste any time in mocking him over his past indiscretions.

The 35-year-old asked: "'Just to be clear, are these guidance or rules?"

Scott was referencing Hancock's affair with government aide Gina Coladangelo during the coronavirus pandemic.

At the time, Hancock, 44, had told the public that it was important to stay away from people, including family members, for fear of spreading the deadly disease.

But footage later emerged of Hancock and Coladangelo snogging in an office, which led to the then health secretary being forced to resign.

Hancock recently spoke to his fellow campmates about what plans he has for when he leaves the jungle.

While hanging out in the camp, Radio X DJ Chris Moyles asked: "What’s the plan, come out of here, write a book?”

The former Tory MP then revealed that he already had a few irons in the fire, saying: "I’ve just finished a book - Pandemic Diaries. Does what it says on the tin."

Hancock went on to describe the book as 'totally' warts and all, saying it 'tells the story straight' and describing the situation as one that 'needs telling'.

Adding: "Also, there’s going to be an inquiry. That will tell the story straight as well."

Unsurprisingly, his comments didn't go down particularly well with viewers back at home.

One person said: "If Matt Hancock wanted forgiveness he'd be earning it by working hard for his constituents, not taking a huge paycheck [sic] to squeeze out a few tears on national television and promoting his book. He's literally continuing to profit off his negligence."

While another added: "I’m in total disbelief that Matt Hancock has gone onto I’m a Celebrity essentially to promote a book he’s written about him breaking the law. Profiting off not doing his job properly and cheating. Unbelievable."
