High School Musical viewers spot something seriously bizarre in Gabriella singing scene

High School Musical viewers spot something seriously bizarre in Gabriella singing scene

After witnessing Troy tell his mates that Gabriella and music don't mean anything to him, Vanessa Hudgens' character expresses her sadness.

Although Gabriella is soaring and flying, there are definitely some notes she cannot reach.

Jokes aside, she is undoubtedly a great singer, but one scene from High School Musical has got viewers seriously questioning why Vanessa Hudgens sounds so different. Watch below:

The first HSM film, which aired all the way back in 2006, follows Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), the star athlete at a small-town high school, who falls for nerdy beauty Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens).

While the jealous Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) attempts to ruin their relationship, the pair are simultaneously trying to nail the auditions for the upcoming school musical.

But after witnessing Troy showing off to his mates by saying Gabriella and music don't mean anything to him, Hudgens' character expresses her sadness by singing 'When There Was Me and You'.

The lyrics read: "Because I liked the view / I thought you felt it too / When there was me and you."

However, as pointed out recently by TikTokers, Gabriella's voice randomly changes tone throughout the song and people are questioning if its two people singing.

"How is it after all these years I am just now hearing this now?" one person questioned.

While another added: "It's just autotune and loudness normalization turned up to 11."

A third viewer thought: "It's the lower notes cause she probs couldn't go that low since it was at the start of her singing career."

"I didn't know people didn't know this," someone else said.

If you think this is weird, Gabriella's character was actually portrayed by a stunt double in one of its most famous scenes.

News of the blink-and-you'll-miss-it replacement was doing the rounds on TikTok, and fans have been shocked by the small detail in High School Musical 2.

A shocked fan of the movie posted a TikTok of his reaction to the iconic pool scene that sees Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) flirtatiously wave to Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) as he makes his way to a pool party in the 2007 flick.

Well, from Sharpay's perspective at least.

From on top of a rock, Gabriella proceeds to wave back at Troy, which leads Sharpay to dramatically 'fall' into the pool.

Fans were shocked that they didn't notice the stunt double before.

She is clearly played by Hudgens at the start of this scene, but when the camera pans to her character as she dives off a rock formation, it's pretty obvious that another actor has taken on the role as Gabriella makes the quick jump into the pool to save Sharpay.

Reacting to the clip, one fan said: "yall vanessa hudgens is allergic to chlorine and they had to use it in the pool so they used a stunt double for her [sic]."

While a second added another fun bit of HSM trivia: "my favourite is that people don't know zach didn't sing his parts for the first one [sic]."
