Throwback To That Time Ginny Weasley Got Engaged To Harry Potter Co-Star

Throwback To That Time Ginny Weasley Got Engaged To Harry Potter Co-Star

We had totally forgotten about this.

With the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter this year - and the upcoming Return to Hogwarts reunion show - fans are reminiscing on some of their favourite characters and what happened to them after filming.

For example, Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley. Harry Potter fans are just remembering how Bonnie was engaged to fellow actor Jamie Campbell Bower after they met filming The Deathly Hallows Part 1.

Jamie played a young Gellert Grindelwald in the 2010 film, and went on to star in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2018, too. He also starred in the Twilight movies as vampire Caius Volturi.

Jamie and Bonnie grew close on set, and in 2010, confirmed they were an item. Just months later, rumours began to circulate that the pair were actually engaged.

And in April the following year, the happy news was confirmed, with Jamie telling The Daily: "I am engaged. I’m very happy. It’s a wonderful, wonderful time."

Sadly, it wasn't meant to be, with the pair splitting in June 2012. Jamie went on to date Lily Collins on and off until 2015.

It seems fans had never even realised - or forgotten all about - the whirlwind romance, with one person writing on Twitter: "HOW HAVE I ONLY JUST FOUND OUT THAT JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER WAS ENGAGED TO GINNY WEASLEY OMG."

While another said: "I just found out that Jamie was engaged to the actress that played Ginny Weasely in HP."

In other Harry Potter news, earlier this week, fans were treated to a sneak peek of Return to Hogwarts.

A photo of the cast has been shared by HBO, including the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton, as well as a number of other Hogwarts alumni.

But fans have honed in on Oliver and James Phelps (who played Fred and George Weasley) with many claiming the twins look 'unrecognisable' in the new snap.
