An all-new reboot of the classic rom-com Father Of The Bride is coming soon to HBO and we added this to our 'must watch' list as soon as the trailer dropped.

Starring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan, the new remake of the fan-favourite film adds some twists and changes to the story.

Not only do we get to see a seriously 21st century bride who proposed to her fiancé, but this time the well-off caucasian families in both the 1950 original and the 1991 remake have been replaced by an equally well-off Cuban-American family.
The story once again follows the titular father of the bride Billy, played by Garcia, who struggles to cope with the preparations that come with his daughter Sophie's (Adria Arjona) special day.

But between splashing out heaps of cash on the utterly outrageous wedding planner (Chloe Fineman), and learning to love his new son-in-law Adan (Diego Boneta), Garcia's character is dealing with his own marital problems behind the scene.

After failing marriage counselling, he and his wife Ingrid (Estafan) are considering divorce, but trying to keep the news a secret from the family until their daughter's wedding day is out of the way.
Detailing his character's situation, Garcia told EW: "His marriage to his wife is on the rocks.
"It's sliding downhill and is on a slippery slope, not because they don't love each other. We've kind of grown into different spaces, and we take our marriage for granted at this point."

On the cultural switch-up to focus on Sophie's Cuban-American marrying into Aaron's Mexican-American family, Andy Garcia said: "There was both an honour and an obligation to deliver a story that's within the Latin cultures, in this case, the Cuban and the Mexican, trying to relate to one another.

"There's an obligation to do it right, represent it without stereotypes, in a way that, although it's culturally specific, its themes are universal.
"The fact that we're two Latin cultures blending in that movie — to Anglos that might seem weird because they might pile us all into one lump, when we have these subtle differences."
Father Of The Bride will be available to stream on HBO Max from 16th June.
