Courteney Cox hits back at Kanye West after he says Friends 'isn't funny'

Shots have been fired as Friends star Courteney Cox hit back at Kanye West after he said the beloved sitcom ‘wasn’t funny’. Watch the video below:

The 'Stronger' rapper is known for making bold statements, however, Courteney was not happy when he clarified his thoughts about the classic ‘90s TV show.

The 58-year-old shared her official response in a video, in which she reads Kanye’s since-deleted Instagram post, and Friends superfans were not prepared for what happened next.

Ye wanted to set the record straight about a tweet attributed to him critiquing Friends, claiming they hadn't all been written by him.

"Someone copied my style of text and wrote something not funny," the full post says. "I know you guys gonna be disappointed but I actually didn't write the teeet [sic] that said 'Friends wasn't funny either'.

"But I wish I had I'd love to know who thought of that."

Courteney filmed herself scrolling through the post with West's single ‘Heartless’ playing in the background, and when she sees the quote 'Friends wasn't funny', she strides over to the stereo and abruptly shuts off the rapper's song.

And as an extra jab, she captioned the video: “I bet the old Kanye thought Friends was funny”.

Friends aired between 1994 and 2004 and for 10 seasons, propelling all the cast to super stardom. It became an instant success, with fans across the globe however it’s now safe to say Kanye isn't one of them.

In other Friends news, Courteney's former co-star Lisa Kudrow criticised the sitcom's lack of diversity last month. The 59-year-old actor played Phoebe Buffay opposite Courteney's character Monica Geller.

Lisa explained why Friends co-creators Marta Kauffman, who has since apologised over the show's 'embarrassing' lack of diversity, and David Crane had 'no business' writing about people of colour.

"Well, I feel like it was a show created by two people who went to Brandeis and wrote about their lives after college,” Lisa told The Daily Beast.

“And for shows especially, when it’s going to be a comedy that’s character-driven, you write what you know.

“They have no business writing stories about the experiences of being a person of colour.”

Lisa's comments came after Marta revealed she has pledged $4m (£3.2m) to her alma mater, Brandeis University, to help create an endowed professorship in the African and African American studies department.
