If you're thinking of baking your sloth-loving friend one of your classic Victoria sponges for their birthday, save yourself the effort.

Sammy the Sloth is perfect for fans of the slow-moving mammals, and she's giving Colin the Caterpillar a run for his money.

Tesco's brand new celebration cake comes in an adorable sloth design, and is made of scrumptious chocolate sponge which is filled and coated with chocolate-flavoured icing.

It's then topped with milk choc curls and sugar paste decorations. The layered cocoa cake is also suitable for vegetarians. Win, win.

You can get your hands on Sammy down the supermarket's cake aisle and online for just £8. What's not to love?

But that's not to say we're replacing Colin the Caterpillar completely, especially given how amazing the M&S cake's Christmas makeover was.

We're still not over Colin's festive update, which saw the caterpillar chocolate presents, snowflakes, holly and candy canes. He's even wearing a bold red Santa's hat and matching slippers - what's not to love?

Colin came as part of the supermarket's Christmas food offering which is made up of over 170 new mouth-watering dishes, though we have to admit, Colin was a highlight.

In other exciting cake news, Waitrose is now selling a giant Jaffa Cake cake and we are simply drooling.

The shape of a chocolate log but stuffed full of orangey goodness, the high end supermarket has really pulled out the goods, slathering layers of clementine flavoured chocolate mousse on top of chocolate sponge and clementine jelly. Yum.

The tasty dessert is topped with a glaze and an edible glitter dusting, and packed with an orange candy crunch.
