Choosing the right pair of tights can be tricky business, especially when you want to find just the right level of opaqueness that won't see you sticking your finger straight through the material every time you try and pull them up.
Our drawers are full of various different types we've accumulated from so many shops over the years, but according to Good Housekeeping we should be investing that little bit more to get our tights from none other than Marks and Spencer.
The publication tested five different high street tights to the test, including F&F at Tesco, M&S, Primark, Debenhams and George at Asda, to see which ones stood the test of time.
A group of women wore each pair of tights for a day before rating them on comfort, wear and appearance. The women then washed the tights at the end of the day and noted any changes to give an indication of how long they would last.

Out of the five different retailers, M&S' 80 denier super soft tights, which cost £6 for a pack of two, came out on top.
One of the women in the study described the comfort of the tights as 'perfect', while others found they were slightly bigger than the labelled size, explaining they would opt for a smaller size in future.
The M&S tights were described as 'luxurious, expensive and well made' by one of the women, and none of them reported any signs of laddering, bobbling or holes while wearing the tights or after they were washed.
Overall, the thick and luxurious style of the 80 denier tights won all five of the women over, who all agreed they'd buy the M&S tights again.
In a close second place, four out of the five women said they'd wear the Tesco F&F 80 denier opaque tights, which cost £5 for two pairs, again.

While one woman claimed they were the 'most comfortable tights I have ever worn', others reported wrinkling around the ankles and gusset as an issue.
In joint second place came Debenham's 80 denier tights which cost £8.50 for two pairs and George at Asda's 80 denier tights, costing just a fiver for three pairs.
Two of the five women said they'd wear these tights again, with one woman reporting she found Debenham's tights laddered too easily, while others were disappointed with how thin Asda's tights were.
In last place came Primark's 80 denier tights which come in as the cheapest on the market at just £3.50 for three pairs.

However, only one of the five women said she'd wear Primark's tights again, with one describing 'holes forming' after they'd been washed after one use.
