Woman calls for STD to be renamed so she can use it as a baby name

The woman on Reddit thinks the STD would make a 'beautiful name'.

A woman wants an STD to be renamed because she thinks it would be a sweet name for her daughter.

Some parents aren't looking for anything logical when it comes to baby names.

They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with.

Some parents just want to watch the world burn.

It seems that one Redditor has made her view pretty clear in the platform's 'unpopular opinion' column.

The future mother says she itching to name her daughter after an STD.

For those unaware, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are very common.

Millions of new infections occur every year in the United States.

While STDs are often preventable by using a condom, it seems that naming your child after one isn't.

Taking to Reddit, one woman called for the term of a specific STD to be named something else - just so she can name her daughter after it.

Yes, you read that correctly.

She wrote: "Chlamydia would make a beautiful girl name. I just think it sounds great.

"They should call the STD something different so we can finally start using it."

Sorry, this does get worse.

She added: "Chlamydia, come over here! Did you do your homework, Chlamydia?

"I just think it sounds great. They should call the STD something different so we can finally start using it."

As you can imagine, her opinion went down a treat in the comments section.

"This is my daughter Chlamydia, she has been itching to meet you," one user joked.

Another added: "Can even call her Chlam for short."

While a third person also quipped: "I feel like her nickname would be Clammy. I couldn’t do that to my daughter."

As pointed out by a fair few Redditors, it seems that the woman may have stole the joke from an old Ryan Reynolds film Waiting.

The 2005 comedy follows a group of young workers at fast-food outlet Shenanigan's, who discover unconventional ways to get rid of their boredom.

In one scene, two customers are sat opposite each other, and one says: "It's too bad chlamydia has to be a venereal disease, it's such a pleasant sounding word."

To which the other person replies: "Chlamydia? Chlamydia. Chlamydia. I think i might name my daughter Chlamydia."
