WhatsApp is down for users worldwide

Users are reporting problems

WhatsApp appears to be down for users worldwide this evening (3 April).

Users took to social media to report issues with the instant messaging service.

It comes not long after recent problems with other Meta apps, including Facebook and Instagram.

WhatsApp users are claiming they are unable to send and receive messages, and have taken to X to complain about the situation.

Down Detector, an online platform collecting real-time data on the status of websites and services, saw a massive spike in WhatsApp outages this evening.

It says 55 percent of the most reported problems are with 'sending messages', 25 percent with 'server connection' and 20 percent with 'app'.

And on X, users were quick to look for help from others as they asked on mass: "Is WhatsApp down?"

And 'WhatsApp' is now already trending on the social media site as people flock there in panic.

Reporting their issue with Down Detector, many users said their app 'just says connecting all the time'.

While social media users joke 'everyone is running to X to confirm is WhatsApp is down'.

And others are asking why the service is 'messing' with them or if it was something to do with their network.

Meta told Tyla: "We know some people are experiencing issues right now, we're working on getting things back to 100% for everyone as quickly as possible."

This comes not even a month after Meta suffered a worldwide outage that affected plenty of users.

Instagram and Facebook users were left complaining they had problems with the apps on both their laptops and smartphones.

Thousands were having issues with sending and receiving messages and using the search tool.

And unsurprisingly, people took to X that time too to voice their complaints.

One slammed: "Is Instagram down again?? Wtf is going on with these META platforms man??"

During a previous outage, Andy Stone, comms at Meta, later issued a statement explaining the outage: "Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologise for any inconvenience."

Well, fingers crossed these problems get fixed soon so users can dive back into their group chats.
