In animal news that's sure to make our hearts melt (and make us want to adopt all the kitties), two cat brothers in Northamptonshire are looking for their fur-ever home.

Leon and Nikita, who are both 21 years old (that's around 100 in human years), were recently dropped off with the RSPCA as they were not coping with family life. Aww!

Despite their grand ages, the "bonded brothers" who do everything together are doing well and in fairly good health.

However, Nikita has just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and will need blood tests over the next few months to check how he responds to medication.

In a Facebook post shared by the Northamptonshire branch of the RSPCA, Leon and Nikita are described as an "affectionate pair who enjoy chin tickles and human company."

"They are looking for a quiet home with no children," the post adds. "The branch will offer support post-adoption while Nikita's condition is stabilising so we are looking for a home within Northamptonshire."

"Due to their age," the post continues, '"we are keen to get these lovely boys settled into a new home asap."

Animal care supervisor Michelle Billingham told the Northampston Chronicle and Echo that Leon and Nikita were "lovely" cats just looking for somewhere to spend their retirement.

She added: "They are just such lovely cats and at 21 years old they just should not be in rescue."

And we can't blame anyone who wants to rehome these guys tbh. We would if we had the space!

It seems that others feel the same too, with many users on Facebook commenting on how "gorgeous" and "sweet" the brothers were.

"Oldies are the best!," exclaimed one user.

And another, who couldn't commit to taking Leon and Nikita home, called the kitties "sweet babies".

Let's hope the brothers find somewhere soon to spend their remaining years!
