Meghan Markle's friend Janina Gavankar has claimed a palace staff member was fired for gross misconduct.

Appearing on today's This Morning, hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby chatted to actress Janina, following Prince Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

You can watch a clip below:

Speaking from Los Angeles, Janina was asked about the accusations of Meghan 'bullying' members of staff within the palace.

She said: "Well I have known her for 17 years and I have seen the way she regards people around her and the people she works with, and I can say she's not a bully.

"But, I can also say that I am personally glad that people are doing their due diligence because I also know why someone had to leave, and it was for gross misconduct.

"And the truth will come out, there's plenty of emails and texts about that."

Buckingham Palace declined to comment when contacted by Tyla with regard to these claims.

Janina explained Meghan was aware she would be speaking on the show, explaining she's in regular contact with the Duchess of Sussex.

"We are all happy that we are in a new era. We get to tell the truth. Things are different now. But, I will say that I don't speak for them, I speak for myself," she said.

When Holly and Phil asked why the couple wanted to do the interview, she added: "I think it was just finally a chance to just tell their truth. Meghan's always been an open person.

"She's always shared parts of herself in a way that we always do, but that all changed when she joined the family. We watched as a wall was built around her.

"She was very isolated, even though that wasn't her choice, and she was being completely slaughtered for it.

"And I can personally say that made me very angry, I wanted to defend her, but we were told - or she was told to tell us - never to make a comment because the institution would protect them, and years later we see now that that was not the truth."
