EastEnders star Lacey Turner has opened up on how she initially blamed herself after suffering two miscarriages.

The actress, who is expecting her first baby with husband Matt Kay, discussed the devastation of the miscarriages while appearing on the This Morning sofa today with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Lacey and Matt lost each baby at seven weeks, which has understandably caused a lot of anxiety throughout her current pregnancy. At the time, she questioned whether it was her fault that the pregnancies tragically ended in miscarriage.

"We've been together half our lives. You think, 'I'll get married at 20-something, then I'll have a baby, two years later I'll have another baby,'" Lacey recalled of their first attempts to have a child.

"Then you get there and think it doesn't work like that for everybody."

She continued: "We couldn't believe it - we got a positive pregnancy test. You think of names, then we got to seven weeks and we sadly lost it. It was heartbreaking, my whole world crumbled. I couldn't understand it. I didn't know anybody who had been through anything like this.

"It's a really confusing time. I thought, 'What did I do?' You sort of think, 'Was my steak not cooked properly? Did I lift the box?'. You drive yourself insane about all these things you might have done."

Lacey recalled her initial hesitation to be excited when she saw the positive pregnancy test this time around. She said: "Don't get excited, and I sort of ignored it until I was about 10 weeks.

"It was not until I got until 20 weeks that I thought [we're going to have a baby]."

Lacey feared she'd suffered another miscarriage this time around when she noticed 'similar things started happening' like when she was pregnant previously.

But doctors eased her fears after they told her that the baby had a heartbeat.

Lacey said that speaking openly about the miscarriage helped her to come to terms with it.

The actress is around 22 weeks in her pregnancy, and unveiled her blossoming baby bump to the world at 19 weeks last month.
