Woman dies suddenly in her sleep on holiday after suffering from flu-like symptoms

She began 'struggling with a huge cold’ before developing difficulties in breathing

A woman died suddenly in her sleep while on holiday in Bali after suffering from ‘flu-like symptoms'.

Mum Lindy Joy Turner, from Geelong in Australia, was on holiday in Indonesia when she began ‘struggling with a huge cold’ before developing difficulties in breathing.

Sadly, she passed away in her sleep leaving behind her devastated family, including her husband of almost 40 years.

As yet, it’s unclear what caused the death, with the family saying the reasons are ‘hazy’.

Following the tragedy, her family has set up a GoFundMe to help raise money to cover the cost of her funeral.

The fundraiser, which was launched four days ago, explains: “Sadly we would like to announce the passing of Mick's beautiful wife of 39 years Lindy Joy Turner. Lindy passed away in her sleep here in Bali.

“The reasons are still hazy but she was struggling with a huge cold and breathing difficulties. Her lungs were full of fluid and her body just could not cope.

“Loved wife of Michael, mother and mother-in-law of Marlee and Mark, Shaun and Bec and devoted nanny of Kobe and Seth.”

The post then goes on to thank people in ‘advance for your love and support to assist with our beautiful friend’s farewell’.

It has so far exceeded its target of AU $15,000 (£7,500) and, at the time of writing, was at AU $15,730 (£7,900).

Lindy’s tragic death comes just weeks after 43-year-old Rajiv Jayarajah, from Melbourne, collapsed and died while visiting Bali.

The devastated family launched a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of her funeral.

Rajiv, a father, collapsed suddenly on 30 June after suffering a seizure.

He was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery but he died from a brain haemorrhage on 9 July.

In a statement, his family said: "We are shattered to lose Raj so young – it’s a huge loss for so many people who loved him, most of all his loving family. It is hard to imagine life without him, and we will now begin the mourning process.”

The family also thanked the ‘incredible’ medical staff who cared for Rajiv.

"The caring staff at BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua, the Australian medical experts who selflessly advised Raj’s sister Samari in Bali on Raj’s care, the wonderful Air Ambulance Australasia team, and the loving and caring team at The Alfred ICU," they said.

"We will always appreciate the care you gave Raj, and we know you did everything you could to try to save him."

Bali is a popular tourist spot for Australians, with hundreds of thousands of Aussies jetting out each year.
