Social media users have been sharing the small secrets which they keep from the men in their lives, fearing they won't be able to handle it.

Sometimes in a relationship, you want to present the most polished version of yourself, meaning some secrets get swept under the rug.

But a thread on Reddit has been allowing women to anonymously confess these secrets, and some of them are brilliant.

Posting on the website, one user asked: "Women of Reddit, what is one secret you keep from the men in your life because you don't think they can handle it?"

The thread has over 1,800 comments, some of which are heartbreaking, but it's the quirky comments which received some of the most shocked responses.

One woman started the replies with a secret that most women will admit to, and most men will not realise.

She confessed: "I don't wash my bra's as regularly as I should."

The secret got lots of support from other women, but another woman explained she'd been caught out by her boyfriend already.

She said: "My boyfriend was completely disgusted by me earlier today because I sniffed one of my bras before deciding to wear a different one."

Women often get labelled as being 'too emotional', but sometimes our eyes have a mind of their own.

One user wrote: "How much I actually cry. Sad? Cry. Angry? Cry. Super happy? Tears of joy. It's frustrating most of the time and I don't want it to be misunderstood as me being irrationally emotional. I can think just fine thank you, my eyes are just leaking."

Of course men cry too, and another user shared this secret.

They said: "I was in a car accident with a tractor trailer last month. That was probably the first and only time I just sobbed on my bf, and he was pretty chill about it. I apologized for getting his shirt wet and he said 'It's okay I know what I signed up for.' Lol [sic]."

However, the best reply in the whole thread has to be this one.

The user wrote: "During the night I've been peeing in a cup and pouring it down the sink instead of using the toilet because i am afraid of waking him up from hearing the toilet flush [sic]."

Now, we don't think it is too relatable and we hope she doesn't make a brew in the same cup, but we definitely want to be there when her partner discovers this secret.

If only someone could make a similar thread for men.
