Footage of a woman being swept away by a large wave has surfaced online. The young tourist, was posing for the photo at a busy, scenic cliff showing the moment the wave crashed into her and others...

The incident happened at Devil's Tear (a popular tourist destination for its tide pools) on the island of Nusa Lembongan in Bali, Indonesia. The footage shows the woman with her arms outstretched, trying to capture the views with the ocean behind her, but the scene was cut short by the freak wave. Screams of horror are heard in the video, but luckily she escaped with only a few cuts and bruises and can be seen later on in the video being tended to by a first aider.

The video had gone viral on Chinese social media after it was posted on Facebook last week. A Bali-based Instagram page had also shared the video (which got over 75k views and hundreds of comments) captioned it: "WARNING WARNING! Please like and share this video so more people understand how dangerous it is to stand this close! Please stop and be careful! You still have an amazing view 20 metres from the edge".

Unfortunately, there have been many incidents of this nature where people have put themselves in danger in order to get a great photograph. Last summer, Instagram model Katarina Zarutskie was bitten by a shark whilst trying to get a beach photo for her social media page. Zarutskie holidaying in the Bahamas with her boyfriend and his family when she saw multiple people swimming in a pool of nurse sharks (who are not deadly) and decided she wanted to get in and seize this opportunity. However, the moment took a nasty turn.

As she leaned back to take the photo, one shark bit her arm and pulled her under. She managed to escape with just a bite on her arm, but has since learnt her lesson. "They are wild animals and it's an uncontrollable situation," she said in a piece for Buzzfeed. "I would recommend people to do it but be smart about it," she said. "You are in their home."

So next time you want to get a great shot by the sea, perhaps consider your safety first.
