Emotional Molly-Mae Hague Reveals She's Undergoing Surgery After Endometriosis Diagnosis

Molly-Mae Hague has spoken candidly about being diagnosed with endometriosis, after years of painful and debilitating periods.

The Love Island runner-up, 22, revealed how difficult it was for her to get the diagnosis, telling her fans she decided to see a private specialists after her GP failed to act.

Influencer Molly revealed in her latest YouTube video that she is now looking to schedule invasive keyhole surgery in a bid to ease the pain she suffers in her lower back when she's menstruating.

"I actually have got to have an operation for something that I want to tell you guys about. It's kind of a good thing and it's kind of a bad thing," she told her fans.

"I've told you guys for so long now that I suffer with excruciating periods and so many of you guys were commenting on my videos telling me to check for endometriosis."

For those who have not heard of the term, endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes. This can lead to pain and discomfort which can worsen during your period. While there is no cure, there are treatments to help making menstruation more bearable.

However, it can be very difficult to receive an endometriosis diagnosis from doctors, with the average sufferer having to wait between six to ten years to get the condition diagnosed.

It's something Molly-Mae herself had to endure, explaining that she went to several doctors describing her period pains. Despite some days being so bad she was forced to miss work, GPs did not take her seriously.

However, the condition was diagnosed immediately when Molly-Mae shelled out for a specialist.

"Straight away they said 'You absolutely do have endometriosis, it's clear as day'. So I guess that's kind of a good thing because at least I know now what it is," she explained.

"It's not a good thing that I have endometriosis, because obviously it can affect fertility and loads of other things, and you can never really cure it."

While Molly-Mae is now gearing up for keyhole surgery, there's no guarantee the procedure will help, as endometriosis has a 40 per cent chance or re-emerging.
