Netflix viewers are calling for new season of heartbreaking ’10/10’ drama series

There's one huge reason why there COULD be a second season one day

Netflix viewers are calling for a new season of a heartbreaking ‘10/10’ drama series, saying they would ‘love’ to see the story return for a second instalment.

It’s often hard to keep up with new releases on streaming sites, given how things come in thick and fast.

Once you’ve started to tick off a few from the top 10, you soon realise you’re already behind as office gossip turns to the ONE thing you’ve not had time to check out just yet.

The show was released in 2021.

That sometimes means absolute gems end up going unwatched – for no other reason than the fact they’re being overshadowed by other titles.

One such show that may have flown under the radar for you actually originally dropped on Netflix back in 2021, but it proved so good that viewers are STILL talking about it.

Maid follows 25-year-old mum Alex (Margaret Qualley) as she leaves her emotionally abusive, alcoholic boyfriend Sean (Nick Robinson), trying to secure a more stable life for her young daughter.

The ‘incredible story of survival and resilience’ shows Alex navigating a world of poverty and abuse, while also ‘redefining her worth against all odds'.

Over on LADbible Group’s Netflix Bangers Facebook group, people were singing its praises earlier this week – years after its initial release - with many saying they'd love to see a second season.

Recommending it to others, one said it was a ‘10/10’ series, with someone else commenting: “A pity there wasn’t more episodes. I really enjoyed it. Watched it ages ago.”

Someone else said: “Need it to come back!!”

Another wrote: “Would love a season 2.”

One person said it was one of their ‘top 10’ series, adding: “Wish this show had another season.”

Fans are desperate for a follow-up series.

While the show itself was billed as a mini-series, there's potentially some hope for anyone wanting more from the beautifully-told story.

The Netflix drama was actually based on the memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive by Stephanie Land.

And since the show was released, Land has actually released a follow-up book, Class, which dropped at the end of last year.

This time, the author paints an 'intimate and heartbreaking portrait of motherhood as it converges and often conflicts with personal desire and professional ambition', offering a 'searing indictment of America's educational system'.

While nothing's been announced by Netflix, we can keep our fingers crossed that Land's second memoir provides the material for us to return to Alex and Madi's world.

In the meantime, be sure to check out Maid, which is still available to stream on Netflix.
