Viewers have wondered whether Grace Dent will receive her full pay cheque after quitting the ITV show last night

Following Grace Dent's sensationally premature resignation from the 2023 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, many fans of the show have been wondering whether the world-renowned food critic will receive her full pay cheque.

Announcing her departure earlier today, ITV cited 'medical' reasons but did not elaborate any further.

"Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds," a statement from producers read.

"She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike."

Her departure comes just hours after a hoard of viewers took to X - formerly known as Twitter - last night to express their concern for Grace.

The ex-MasterChef star appeared alarmingly vacant when show hosts Ant and Dec revealed she'd been chosen to take part in another dreaded Bushtucker Trial, alongside This Morning presenter, Josie Gibson.

Grace didn’t even appear to react when she was picked by viewers to compete in 'Down The Tubes', with many fans noticing she 'didn’t look well'.

Grace Dent was voted to face the next trial but left shortly after.

"Someone should check Grace's pulse," one viewer penned on social media. "That girl does not look well. #ImACeleb".

Another added: "Are we sure her jaws have not been wired shut? Never seen her so quiet. #Grace #ImaCeleb".

"Is Grace ok?? Think she needs checking on she looks so deflated #ImACeleb" a third asked.

And an insider has now revealed to the Daily Mail that Grace’s decision to leave was a mutual decision between the star and show bosses – who had supposedly intervened after seeing her visible deterioration on the show.

A source close to her said: “Grace decided to leave the jungle soon after it was announced that she would be doing the latest Bushtucker Trial.

"Knowing that she would be facing another tough challenge was the straw that broke the camel's back."

They continued: "It was mutually agreed upon that she would stand down from the competition, it was clear that she wasn't being herself, she had lost all energy when usually she's witty and fun to be around.

"ITV's duty of care and welfare teams had stepped in, and rightly so.

"She had struggled since living in the camp with less amenities, the weather this year has been particularly miserable and as a restaurant critic, not eating well proved to be harder than she could have ever imagined. Grace is looking forward to seeing her loved ones now and after a few days of rest and recovery will be fine."

But leaving the three-week-long show - which is famed for paying its stars as much as six-figures for an appearance Down Under - after just seven days has left several viewers concerned she won't receive the £100,000 she is estimated to earn following her jungle stint.

Contestants have to sign a secret clause in their contracts.

However, apparently, there's a secret clause in the contract of each fear-facing contestant, which secures them their impressive payment if they remain in the camp for a specific amount of time.

Being that Grace was able to last more than 72 hours - the cut-off point to receive payment - it is understood that she'll receive her pay cheque.
