Taylor Swift fans outraged over strict list of items banned from shows

Taylor Swift fans have been left outraged after seeing a strict list of items banned from live shows, with many saying the rules are ‘ridiculous’.

Swift, 34, is currently touring the globe with her worldwide Eras Tour, with a number of shows this week in Tokyo, Japan – something that’s left many fans concerned about her making it back to the US in time to catch beau Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl.

After that, she’s heading over to Australia for performances in Melbourne and Sydney later this month, with many fans Down Under gathering up their friendship bracelets – a huge trend for the singer’s concerts – to take along with them to trade with other Swifties.

But some people have been left concerned after spotting a list of banned items from the live shows; while the bracelets themselves are permitted, some related accessories are not.

Frontier Touring, the company behind the Aussie leg of the Eras Tour, posted a rundown of ‘important deets’ on Twitter ahead of the first date on 16 February.

Along with set times and advice on what to bring, it warned that there were a number of prohibited items, including: large signs; large electronic devices including laptops, tablets and readers; audio recording devices; confetti or torn paper; clothing, costumes or personal effects that may impede the view of those around you; umbrellas, tents and camping chairs; aerosols such as deodorant, spray, sunscreen; airhorns, instruments, speakers and audio disturbances; flashlights, lasers and battery packs; prams or strollers; and outside food or beverage.

“Friendship bracelets are allowed to be brought into the venues but must be worn on patrons’ arms – strictly no carabiner, d-rings, or other,” the company added.

While some of the listed items seemed to make perfect sense, there were a couple that concertgoers were fuming about - with one saying they'd made as many as 400 bracelets to bring along, which obviously wouldn't fit on their arm.

One commented: “Seriously???? No portable chargers? Are you guys a joke lmao.”

Someone else said: “No offence this is pretty s**t. All the people who made so many friendship bracelets can’t carry them all on their arms.”

Another wrote: “Please amend the rules for iPhone chargers! the event is 5+ hours!”

A fourth also tweeted: “FIX THESE RULES, THIS IS RIDICULOUS SOME OF US WENT OUT OF OUR WAY TO MAKE FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS SHOWER RINGS OR CABABINERS ARE NOT DANGEROUS SERIOUSLY???? ARE WE ALOUD PORTABLE CHARGERS LIKE IM SO CONFUSED NO BATTERY PACKS??? BE SERIOUS.”

A fifth added: “Why can’t we bring caribanas into the stadium for our bracelets? What harm would that be? I’ve made some bracelets too small for my arm so i can give them to kids and now I can’t bring them???”

In a follow-up post, Frontier Touring doubled down on its rules, sharing some ‘clarifying tips’:

Friendship Bracelets

• CAN be in your single allowed bag
• CANNOT be in their own separate bag
• CANNOT be brought on carabiners, d-rings, shower curtain rings, or other (for safety reasons)

Portable Phone Chargers

• Are separate from battery packs and are allowed
• Please ensure they are smaller than the size of your phone

This meant that, while friendship bracelets were still not permitted on carabiners or other attachments, they could be brought inside a bag rather than being worn.
