He's finally finished the 116-mile journey

It's finally happened. Vernon Kay has at long-last completed the ultramarathon!

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you'll know that BBC Radio 2 mid morning presenter has been tirelessly training up to do the ultramarathon in order to raise money for Children In Need.

Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly, has since come forward to congratulate her emotional hubby for finishing his epic 116-mile journey across the nation.

Tess, 54, took to Instagram earlier today (17 November) to share with her 852k followers just how proud she was of Vernon, 49, and his monumental achievement.

She started off by saying she was 'absolutely gutted' not to be at the finish line not to cheer Vernon on today as she was busy with Strictly duties.

"BUT," Tess continued, "what a moment, what an achievement, I am SO PROUD of what you’ve done!"

She went on: "I can see in your body that it’s taken a physical toll but I know that it won’t matter right now, as the total of over three MILLION raised for Children In Need is just incredible, and the generosity and support shown by everyone that has so kindly donated and those who have come out to support you along the way has been beyond wonderful."

Tess concluded the touching Instagram post adding: "I know it’s kept you going (and me too).

"Love you to bits Vern, you’ve got this!!"

The BBC has since confirmed that dad-of-two Vernon has now raised an 'unreal' £4,014,362 for the charity with many fans rushing to social media to share their praise.

One Instagram user penned: "He deserves recognition for this awesome achievement, so many children will benefit from this, well done Vernon we salute you."
