Sophie Turner breaks silence on divorce from Joe Jonas with statement

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have announced their divorce.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have announced their divorce after nearly four years of marriage.

The Jonas Brothers singer, 34, filed to end his marriage with the X-Men star, 27, of whom he has two children with.

Reports suggest that the filing - made in Florida’s Miami-Dade County Court - stated that 'the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken'.

Jonas and Turner got married at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on 1 May 2019 after the Billboard Music Awards.

They welcomed their first daughter, Willa, in 2020 and their second daughter, whose name has not yet been made public, came last year.

Joe and Sophie were married for four years.

Confirming the split this afternoon (6 September), a joint statement on Turner's Instagram page reads: "After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.

"There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."

The pair first met in October 2016 after exchanging Instagram DMs earlier in the year.

By December, they were exclusively dating one another and announced their engagement in October 2017.

Northampton-born Turner - who is filming for her upcoming ITV series Joan - was recently spotted at a bar in Birmingham called Dropshot Digbeth.

She has previously opened up about her anxiety issues and preferring to stay at home, while her husband likes to go out on the town.

Confirmation of the rumours came today as Sophie announced it on Instagram.

During an interview with Conan O'Brien during the Covid-19 pandemic, Turner opened up about life during lockdown, claiming she enjoyed it.

She told the host: "I'm an introvert. I'm a homebody. If I could stay at home all day I would."

Jonas, however, is the complete opposite.

"Everything seems to be working out in my favor here because Joe's a real social butterfly, so I struggle to lock him down and have him just spend time with me.

"It's like prison for him, but it's great for me."

Last November, Jonas opened up about his relationship during an interview with Mr. Porter.

"I want to feel like an open book," he told the publication.

"But when we started dating, I realized that I didn't have a ton of stuff that was just for me. And in the end, it makes me a better person to have something for myself."
