Lily Allen reveals she travelled in first class while she put her daughter, 12, in economy

The 'Smile' hitmaker is mother to daughters Ethel, 12, and Marnie Rose, 11

For many holiday-makers, the idea of flying first class to your dream destination is somewhat of a pipe-dream.

The extortionate cost that needs forking over for extra few glasses of Prosecco, a tad more leg room and the option to recline your seat means that the vast majority of passengers have no choice but to travel economy.

For many big-name celebrities, however, upgraded flight seats are part of daily life - if they haven't already acquired their own private jet!

Such is the case for UK hitmaker Lily Allen, who has opened up on her adoration for flying first class whilst making a rather questionable admission about where she leaves her children...

For those unfamiliar with the musician's family life, Lily shares her two daughters, Ethel, 12, and Marnie Rose, 11, with her ex-hubby Sam Cooper.

Both of the singer's daughters were born after the singer endured a miscarriage in 2008 with her ex beau Ed Simons, as well as the still-birth of a baby boy in November 2010, whom she named George.

In the years that followed, the 'Smile' chart-topper went on to move her daughters Stateside, where she fell head over heels for Stranger Things actor David Harbour, whom she wed in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony in 2020.

In conversation with her long-term bestie Miquita Oliver on their joint BBC podcast Miss Me?, the 38-year-old 'It's Not Fair' singer revealed that she was recently travelling back to her home city of London from her home in the States for Miquita's 40 birthday party, and opted to book herself into first class.

She went on to confess, however, that she saw no reason to invite her daughter Ethel - who was also making the transatlantic journey - to join her in the prestige area of the plane.

"We are flying to London today to come and see you for your birthday. I'm going in first class, she's going in economy," Lily teased listeners.

"You know what that is?" Miquita in response, before Lily joked back: "Selfish?"

Miquita then continued: "The circle of life. That baby is now coming to London because you live in New York for my 40th birthday, which we are having at the end of the road we grew up on."

Lily then explained: "There's a trend at the moment on social media of people defiantly saying that they won't give up their seats for children on aeroplanes."

"Fair enough," Miquita replied. "Why would you give your seat to a kid if you payed for it? It's not like a train."

I rate the honesty, tbh...
