Police confirm singer James Morrison’s wife Gill Catchpole, 45, found dead at home

The mum-of-two was found dead at her Gloucestershire home

James Morrison’s wife, Gill Catchpole, has tragically died aged just 45, police have confirmed.

The 39-year-old 'Broken Strings' singer shared two daughters with Gill - Elsie, aged 15 and Ada, five.

The pair first met almost two decades ago when Gill moved into his mother's home as a lodger, with the couple going on to get married in 2006.

Police have confimed the death of James Morrison's wife, Gill Catchpole.

Before passing, Gill ran a successful café, called the Cotswold Sandwich Box.

Back in 2022, Gill had a kidney transplant and just last November marked the anniversary of the surgery.

She wrote on Facebook at the time: "What a difference a year makes.

"After many ups, downs and heartache, I am here owning my own business.

"For anyone out there struggling, I can tell you from experience it does get better.

"Thanks to my amazing family and friends that have been there through it all and picked up the many pieces of me and my life.

“You all know who you are. Today I feel blessed."

A family friend confirmed to The Sun that Morrison was being comforted by family and friends.

A source revealed: "James is devastated and is being supported by his family.

"He is holding it together for their girls but has asked for the family to be left alone to grieve in private.”

A local added: "The whole village is in complete shock at what has happened.

"Gill was a lovely woman and they were a beautiful family."

The late mum-of-two ran the Cotswold Sandwich Box café.

Police have since issued an official statement on the matter after being called to a house in Whitminster, Gloucester, at 9.10am 'following concerns for the welfare of a resident'.

They added: "The body of a woman in her 40s was found.

"The death is being treated as non-suspicious at this time.

"The coroners and woman’s next of kin have been informed."

Back in 2019, Morrison revealed his album You’re Stronger Than You Know was inspired by Gill after their youngest was born 13 weeks premature.

He said at the time: "The album title is for Gill as she’s been through so much as a woman and a mum, knowing we could lose the baby at any point."

Tyla has reached out to James Morrison's representatives for comment.
