Ferne McCann explains why she named her baby Finty Francis Haines-McCann

Ferne McCann welcomed her second daughter into the world, naming her Finty

Ferne McCann has revealed the inspiration behind her new baby's name.

The reality star announced last week that she had given birth to her second daughter, Finty Francis Haines-McCann, on 6 July.

The little girl is her first child with fiancé Lorri Haines.

And the 32-year-old has now opened up about how she came up with the interesting name.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, McCann said: “It was on my name list when I gave birth to Sunday.

"I don’t know where I got it from, but when I typed it in [on Google] I saw Judi Dench’s daughter’s nickname is Finty.

"I’ve always loved it and never heard it anywhere else before.

Finty was born on 6 July.

“I just feel so connected to the name - she came out and she was just Finty.

"I think she sounds like a character out of Bridgerton.”

The former TOWIE star went on: "Francis is my grandad’s name - it’s a nod to Grandad Frank.”

And even though they've only been together a few days, McCann said that her daughter Sunday has already formed a close bond with her little sister.

"She has been so good," McCann said. "She’s taken on the big sister role.

"I think it’s a girl’s natural instinct - she’s loving changing the nappy. She finds the poo hysterical.

"She doesn’t understand how delicate Finty is and she’s like, ‘I want to hold her'. She’s just obsessed with her.”

Finty is McCann's first with her fiancé, who she started dating in 2021 before the pair got engaged the following year.

Announcing that she had given birth, she posted a video, with the caption: "It’s a girl. 06.07.23."

In a comment, Haines added: "Our baby girl. Prod [sic] of you."

McCann's mum, Gilly, wrote: "So so in love with our new baby girl.

McCann kept fans updated on her pregnancy journey after revealing on First Time Mum she had previously experienced a miscarriage.

"Very early on we had, we had a miscarriage. I was five weeks and I started bleeding. I was devastated," she said.

"I was really, really upset. I think Lorri found it really hard to comprehend."

After getting pregnant again, McCann admitted to OK! that she would 'love' to have another girl in the family.

“I would love a girl, just because I’ve got my girl’s name and I feel like a girl mum because I’ve got Sunday. I can only see myself with girls," she said.

Haines was a bit more hesitant on that idea, though, joking: “I don’t know if I can live in a house with four girls.”
