Strictly star Dianne Buswell explains why she was in tears on show with Bobby Brazier

Strictly star Dianne Buswell explains why she was in tears on show with Bobby Brazier

Fans were left concerned after she held back tears while speaking to Claudia Winkleman

Strictly star Dianne Buswell has explained why she was in tears on the show recently, addressing the ‘emotional’ week that she and Bobby Brazier had.

Dianne, 34, has been paired with model and actor Bobby, 20, for this season of the dancing contest, which they both seem to be taking in their stride – until last week, that is, when fans noticed something wasn’t quite right.

On Saturday 14 October, the pair admitted it had been a particularly ‘emotional’ week for them after taking to the floor to perform a Tango to David Bowie's hit 'Fashion'.

During the post-performance interview with Claudia Winkleman, Bobby said: "Just emotional. It's been so, so emotional all week."

A tearful Dianne added: "He has just been a massive rock this week, so thank you."

This led some fans to speculate whether there were problems in her relationship with former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Joe Sugg, who she fell in love with after they were paired together in 2018.

Dianne and Bobby admitted they'd had a tough week.

She later shot down those rumours by posting a video on her Instagram Stories of Joe cooking a delicious Sunday roast for the two of them.

Dianne also reposted a picture he had taken of her smiling next to her hearty plate, where he quipped: "'These are the best roast potatoes I've ever eaten in my life, Joe you are the best roaster of the potato the world's ever seen, I love you so much more than I even did before!'"

She then replied: "It's the best roasted potatoes I have ever had."

Dianne later rubbished split rumours with a Sunday roast post.

Now she’s taken to her YouTube channel to explain just why she was so upset, revealing it was all down to a family incident.

Dianne told fans: "I thought I would be very upfront and honest with you all.

"Last week I got some news about my dad's health and I won't go into detail, but obviously that affected me.

"Being away from home and not being able to support and help your family in a time of need is quite a difficult thing so I did struggle a little bit last week in terms of that."

Her family’s Christmas plans have even been affected, as she is now heading back to Australia instead of hosting them here in the UK.

"There is a little road ahead for my dad but I believe 100 percent he is going to be fine and we are all going to get through it together,” Dianne said, adding: "My dad is the sweetest, kindest man you will ever meet and the one thing he really wants is for me to keep going and to keep dancing my little heart out and doing what I love because that makes him the absolute proudest.

"Regardless if I go home with a glitterball or not I will still go home and have a hot Christmas."
