Amy Schumer has responded to cruel comments about her appearance following a recent appearance on a talk show.
The Trainwreck star went on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss the second season of her Hulu series Life & Beth, also performing a short stand-up set – bringing in a few back-up dancers after joking that she ‘can’t compete’ with the likes of Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
After seeing the interview, many people were left wondering if Schumer had ‘done’ something to her face, with one tweeting: “What did Amy Schumer do to her face? [...] She did something to her cheeks? Eyes?”

Someone else said: “Can a doctor (licensed) please explain to me what’s happening with Amy Schumer’s face?”
Similarly cruel comments emerged after Schumer’s other recent appearance on The View, including one that said: “Damn Amy Schumer's face is HUGE. wtf when did she get like this? Lol.”
While Schumer didn’t owe any of us an explanation, she took to Instagram to address the concern over her ‘puffier face’, saying it had something to do with a condition that ‘every woman should read about’.

She also called on others to focus on what really mattered - that is to say, the show that she's not only starred in, but also created, wrote and directed.
Posting a promotional picture for Life and Beth, she said: “I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years.
“And you’re right it is puffier than normal right now. I have endometriosis, an auto immune disease that every woman should read about.
“There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now but I’m okay.

“Historically women’s bodies have barely been studied medically compared to men. The book All in her Head does a good job explaining this.
“I also believe a woman doesn’t need any excuse for her physical appearance and owes no explanation.
“But I wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self love and acceptance of the skin you’re in.”
Schumer added: “Like every other women/person some days I feel confident and good as hell and others I want to put a bag over my head.

“But I feel strong and beautiful and so proud of this tv show I created. Wrote. Starred in and directed.
“Maybe just maybe we can focus on that for a little.
“I had backup dancers on Fallon but my face is the headline hahaha anyway I hope you enjoy life and Beth. Love and solidarity. Amy.”
This comes after the comedian underwent an operation to have her uterus removed in 2021, with her revealing '30 spots of endometriosis had been removed', as well as her appendix.
