Since the release of the full trailer earlier of Toy Story 4 this week, it seems like everyone is talking about new character Forky. Played by Tony Hale, Forky is a plastic spork with pipe cleaner arms, a squiggly face and mismatched googly eyes. Forky is a toy that Bonnie created at school, Woody tells the gang.

One of the first scenes in the trailer introduces us to Forky, who gets so shocked at meeting everybody that he falls over and loses an eye. This first introduction to him already gives us a hint at his own fragility.

We see later on in the trailer that his fragility is not just limited to his physical being. He is an anxious characteristic in the midst of an identity crisis. In the trailer he exclaims: "I am not a toy! I was made for soup, salad, maybe chilli, and then the trash!" before running away from Woody and Buzz.

Because he is a DIY toy he doesn't truly feel like a toy and so is confused by his own path in life.

And some users on social media have commented that he is already really rather relatable.

Others have said that he embodies the Millennial clash of anxiety-depression while one user commented that Forky's crisis about being a toy reflects Buzz's in the first film.

While he may be suffering from Imposter Syndrome - a psychological phenomenon where one has an internalised fear of being a fraud - it is clear he already has fans, both within the movie and by Toy Story fans alike.

Whether or not it is too late in the game to introduce new characters, it'll be interesting to see what the nervous little fork brings to the celebrated Pixar franchise.

Toy Story 4 premiers in UK and US cinemas on 21st July.
