Britain's Got Talent has given us plenty of incredible magic acts over the years, but some viewers were left unimpressed with Saturday night's episode, suggesting a magic act was "staged".

During the show, magician Elizabeth Best took Amanda Holden backstage to "try to make the impossible possible" as part of her act called The Haunting.

Amanda, who looked absolutely terrified, had to hold a journal and choose from a selection of photographs allegedly depicting dead people. The judge was told that if she felt she identified with one of the pictures, she had to place it into a cigar box.

Once she'd chosen a photo she identified with, the person's name, Agatha Turner, appeared on the wall and in a bookmarked page in the journal - and suddenly, appeared across the table from her and grabbed her, despite supposedly having been dead for over 100 years.

Amanda looked horrified, screaming: "I'm scared" and "I want to go home", and shrieking when the magician reappeared and grabbed her.

The Haunting sailed through to the next round, receiving four yeses. Fellow judge Alesha Dixon said it was "the most scary act we've ever had on the show and I want to see more," while Amanda told her: "It was horrific and brilliant". Even Simon Cowell was impressed, calling the act "amazing".

However, some fans were unimpressed, suggesting the act had been "staged".

One viewer wrote, "Nar that didn't even fool me I was just like "omg how staged" it took the magic out for me", while another said "the only person that should go though for that magic act is the camara man! [sic]".

Others loved the spooky trick though, tweeting "Just' Elizabeth and Agatha Turner just impressed and equally scared the sh*t out of me. I love spooky, magic stuff" and "that was intense but what a performance!"

One mum even said her kids had been too scared to sleep afterwards, saying " I sat down after a long day's work with my children to watch the 1st episode of BGT.

"I've now been awake all night because that magic act scared the life out of them and they wont sleep!!!! No act like that should be one family show!"
